Explanation of Rate Increase
Monday, 13 February 2006

Dear Parents,

At the beginning of every new year we analyze our progress, evaluate our improvement, and set new goals. Looking back at our goals for 2005, we know that our focuses were a success. During 2005, we continued to concentrate on hiring the most qualified staff, offering affordable benefits, and improving training courses. Last year we also expanded our training to include specific management courses for our Directors. All Directors completed lengthy courses in Deligation, Customer Service, and Successful Management Team Strategies. We will continue to offer new management trainings this year in addition to the hours required by New York State. Our goal is to exceed the regulations regarding all staff training. We strive to constantly improve our courses and on several occasions in the past year introduce new classes that were inspired by conversations with our parents. In addition, we now have over 70 MAT trained staff members so that our centers may continue to give medication as you/your doctor requests or in the event of an emergency.

North Country Academy makes every effort to meet the expectations of the State and the intense requirements to operate child care centers. We are proud to say that last year our centers had approximately 50 different inspections (including city fire marshals, health departments, Office of Children and Family Services, etc.) and all were a success.

Our computer networking system that links all of our centers with our management office was a tremendous improvement for our companies last year. It allowed closer supervision of our centers and greatly decreased the amount of time and effort that was spent exchanging information.

North Country Academy will continue to work this year on improving training benefits to maintain the most qualified, professional staff possible. We will strive to keep our centers looking their best as we mature. Some improvements include painting, carpet replacement (in some worn areas), purchasing materials, and presenting an overall clean/organized appearance.

In order to meet our goals and improve our centers, we need to increase the tuition rates at each location. In addition to our goals, we also have to cover the rising costs of building maintenance, insurance, transportation (at some centers), consumable supplies, and operating costs in general.

We are looking forward to 2006 and as usual we have high expectations for our centers. North Country Academy is dedicated to offering the best child care possible and will focus our budgeting on areas that really matter to our families.

Please see the tuition adjustments. These new rates will go into effect the week of February 13, 2006. If you have any questions regarding the new rates, please speak to your Director.

Thank you for allowing us to care for your child(ren).
